So I went out and bought four cheapo pairs at the grocery store. What do you think: will these last me four times in total the average duration of ownership of a single pair, or will I just lose each pair four times faster?

I find that if I buy 4 Chap Sticks, I will lose 3 of them almost immediately, and then the final survivor will last a pretty long time, perhaps as a product of my own desperation.

Wouldn’t work for me. If it’s crappy or cheap, I don’t care and lose it or break them immediately. If I spent good money on it and will be pissed if I lose it, I’ll manage to hold onto them for a couple of years.

6 dollar black sunglasses for me. One nice pair of oakleys. The 6 bucks ones I leave all over the place but keep track of the good pair.

You will start using one pair while keeping the other 3 handy, and you’ll never lose the first pair.

Source: I lost the work knife I bought in two weeks, then after buying a 3-pack a few days later I haven’t lost one and the other two are still in the packaging.

I left a $200 pair of Oakleys on a bus, which made me vow to go cheap forever. Waves Gear and a few other companies sell sub $40 polarized cool sunglasses. I’ve never really missed the $200 shades.

Just chain all the glasses like to the wall or the headliner of your car etc.
Or use the old lady chains and rock it.

I thought when I finally bought myself nice sunglasses I’d lose/break them immediately. Two years later, knock on wood, I still have them in good shape.

Of course now I’ve jinxed it.

I was an Oakley kid- one pair lasted a long time.. Then spy, and now arnettes. I’ve had them replaced from all three companies and had free replacement from Oakley. When I buy cheap ones they just break or have warped lenses. If you want cheap ones get some solos or even knockarounds.

A long time ago, in my high school days, I interrupted a lecturing teacher to announce to my class that I had just finished a Chapstick. It had never happened to me before and it hasn’t happen since. Big day for me.

My wife once bought me a ridiculously expensive pair of Oakleys which I managed to scratch within a couple of days. I wore them for a couple of years that way.

Now I use cheap safety glasses that I buy a box at a time. When I scratch a pair, I just toss them and grab a new pair.

Look at all four pairs, which ones do you like the least? The other three are gone, but the one you like the least will be with you for the rest of your life . It is known.
